A board packet can contain a substantial AI presentation and still leave the next decision unclear. Consider a hypothetical report that lists deployed tools, describes the policy and marks the program as progressing. It does not say which unresolved issue needs the board’s attention.
Ask the preparer to choose one material use and explain the decision it creates. What is management recommending? Which facts support that recommendation? What remains uncertain? Who owns the follow-up, and when will the responsible body hear the result?
The answer should connect the issue to the board or committee’s actual responsibilities. Management prepares the evidence and carries out the operating work. Directors examine the explanation, challenge significant uncertainties and follow the matter through their authorized role.
For an insurance renewal discussion, begin with the broker’s actual request and the policy under consideration. A general question set can help preparation, but the working record should answer the request in front of the organization.
Try this before the next meeting: select one open AI issue and write a short decision note. Name the issue, management’s proposed action, the supporting evidence, the unresolved question and the owner of the next step. If the note does not support a decision, identify what is missing rather than filling the gap with a confident status label.
These are suggested working practices. The relevant duties, disclosure decisions and coverage questions depend on the organization and its circumstances.
